Arabic Ab Initio
Ab Initio Arabic is designed for students with minimal prior study of Arabic. It is strongly recommended that students have at least one year of exposure before beginning, since complete beginners often find it very difficult to reach the assessment standards in only two years.
In this course, students quickly learn to read and write the Arabic alphabet, build essential vocabulary, and communicate in simple, everyday situations. They explore topics such as personal information, daily routines, travel, and leisure, using interactive activities and authentic materials to develop their skills across listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Common challenges include adjusting to a new script and right-to-left reading, which can feel unfamiliar at first. They can also be learning correct pronunciation and distinguishing similar-sounding letters, a skill that requires careful listening and repetition. Finally, challenges can include building basic sentences with correct grammar, as Arabic word order and grammar rules can be quite different from those in other languages.

Guided Support
Our teacher provides patient, structured instruction, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps. With regular feedback, tailored assignments, and plenty of speaking practice, students gain accurate pronunciation, build confidence using Arabic in real-life contexts, and develop steadily toward the IB Ab Initio assessment objectives.
Entry Requirements
While Ab Initio is designed for students with little formal study, it is not suitable for absolute beginners. Students are expected to have at least one year of prior exposure to Arabic (through classes, tutoring, or immersion). For students with no background in Arabic, we recommend a preparatory foundation course before enrolling in IB Ab Initio.
