French A: Literature (SL/HL)

CHAPTR House of Education provides expert tutoring for students enrolled in IB French A: Literature at both Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL). This course focuses exclusively on the study of literary works, developing students’ ability to interpret complex texts and construct sophisticated analytical arguments in formal academic French.

Students study a wide range of literary genres, including novels, plays, poetry, short stories, and essays from across the Francophone world, including France, Belgium, Canada, the Caribbean, and Africa. Through tutoring, students learn how authors use language, narrative voice, structure, symbolism, and stylistic techniques to convey meaning and reflect cultural, historical, and philosophical ideas.

Tutoring supports students across the three IB core areas of exploration:

  • Readers, Writers and Texts
  • Time and Space
  • Intertextuality: Connecting Texts

Higher Level students receive additional tutoring support for the HL Essay, which requires sustained independent literary analysis and academic writing at an advanced level.
