Norwegian A: Literature (SL/HL)

CHAPTR House of Education provides expert tutoring for students enrolled in IB Norwegian A: Literature at both Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL). This course focuses exclusively on the close study of literary works and requires students to analyze complex texts while expressing nuanced interpretations in formal academic Norwegian.

Students study novels, short stories, poetry, drama, and essays from Norway and the wider Scandinavian literary tradition. Through individualized tutoring, students develop the ability to analyze how authors use language, narrative voice, symbolism, imagery, and structure to convey meaning and reflect cultural, historical, and philosophical perspectives.

Tutoring supports students across the IB core areas of exploration:

  • Readers, Writers and Texts
  • Time and Space
  • Intertextuality: Connecting Texts

Higher Level students receive additional support for the HL Essay, which requires sustained literary analysis and independent academic research.
