English Essay Writing
Our English Essay Writing program is designed to give students the tools and confidence to excel in writing, beyond what a general English class provides. With a strong focus on essays and academic expression, students learn to analyze poetry, craft book reviews, practice proper citations and bibliographies, and explore creative writing. They gradually build a portfolio of polished work that prepares them for college essays, standardized tests, and lifelong communication.
Through our custom curriculum—developed in-house and enhanced with elements from the Cambridge IGCSE English as a First Language program —students gain structured practice in academic research papers, critical essays, and literary analysis, while also discovering their own voice as writers.
Focus by Grade Level
Grades 5–6
Students begin with foundational essay structures, creative writing, and short analytical tasks. They practice reading comprehension, summarizing texts, and writing simple reflections. Tutors guide them through fun exercises that build confidence and introduce critical thinking.
Grades 7–8
Students move into more structured essays, learning to support arguments with evidence, organize ideas logically, and use proper grammar and vocabulary. They begin analyzing poetry and short stories, write book reviews, and practice citations. Their writing becomes more academic while still encouraging creativity.
Grades 9–10
Students refine their essay-writing to meet high school and pre-college standards. They work on academic research papers, literary analysis, and extended essays, with emphasis on clarity, structure, and originality. Creative writing continues, but the focus shifts to building a strong portfolio of diverse pieces. They also practice comprehension and writing tasks similar to those required on the SAT and ACT, preparing them for advanced coursework and university applications.
